Training Workshop for a New Batch of Volunteers

With the new influx of volunteers willing to spare time off their schedules to support terminally-ill patients and their families through unconventional ways, our hospice team organized our annual training workshop. The day started with visit to the stationary hospice and doing participating in a role play of how the hospice team conducts a home visit to the patient. Staff members gave an overview of the functions of the stationary hospice and how the infrastructure of the building is designed to accommodate terminally ill patients providing them with comfort and a homey environment. A psychiatrist also conducted a participatory session discussing different psychological challenges facing the team during visits. The day ended with an outdoor session on meditating. The new volunteers met team members and other volunteers and were able to converse and get to know one another.
