Training Workshop by Our Global Hospice Partners

Aiming to further develop the hospice care in Egypt, the Hospice Egypt team held the second training workshop on the 17th of February 2014. Two key success members of The Board of German Hospice and Palliative Association, Dr. Erich Rösch, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director and Dr. Svenja, German supervisor and coach specialized in palliative care topics; shared some of their experiences with the participants, providing a rich agenda of vital topics. They discussed the implementation of hospice care in Germany; as well, as the socio-political struggles they have faced throughout the last 20 years. The most urging topics were tackled during the workshop, such as dealing with difficult patients, breaking bad news, self care topics, how to avoid burn out, how to support your team members, the four sided model and the total concept of pain. The "Learn by Doing" technique was adopted throughout the workshop, thus the sessions were alive with high participatory approach through demonstration, discussion groups, role plays and brainstorming activities. This international partnership will continue to pursue growth, yielding a sequence of more workshops related to the hospice field.
