Hospice Egypt’s World Hospice Day Celebration 2019: My Care – My Right

Hospice Egypt’s team, volunteers and supporters celebrated the World Hospice Day at El Sawy Culture Wheel on the 15th of October, 2019. The day’s festivities included both scientific and recreational segments that began with an opening speech about hospice services from Dr. Tandiar Samir (Josaab Foundation’s General Manager – Hospice Egypt), the vice dean of the National Cancer Institute Prof. Dr. Tarek Khairy gave a statement about the collaboration between Hospice Egypt and the National Cancer Institute. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Helmy, head of the pain management unit at the National Cancer Institute have a highly informative session on pain management and opioid accessibility in Egypt that was well received by the audience followed by Eng. Maged Hamdy (Baheya’s spokesperson) presented the collaboration between Baheya organization and Hospice Egypt into providing hospice services to Baheya’s warriors in their last days. The day’s events also included a word about the importance of civil work among a community by the Egyptian celebrity actor Akram Hosny. Actress, script writer and radio presenter Jilaan Alaa shared a story about her personal experience with caring for a terminally-ill family member and finally singer Hala Rushdy delighted the audience with a medley of beautiful songs.
