A Day Out with Hospice Egypt's Mothers at the Nile

Whenever March is mentioned, Egyptians immediately think of spring holidays and Mother’s day. Hospice Egypt thought about the best way to celebrate a lovely day as such and decided to take terminally-ill mothers out on a day organized by the Share a Smile group on Mother’s day. Share a Smile is a group whose mission is not about hospice care and patients but assists marginalized, disadvantaged and impoverished segments of the Egyptian society through many activities with various developmental foundations. The day was spent at the Nile in a very special place called “Al Falooka” that started off with feel-good tunes and words that reflected love and gratitude to mothers. Hospice Egypt’s team, volunteers and mothers had a great time exchanging stories and laughs and watching some entertainment segments presented at the place. There were boat rides ready to take everyone on a cruise in the Nile to enjoy the great weather and breath-taking view of the Nile river. Everyone gathered around for some delicious food, great service and atmosphere during lunch time. Hospice Egypt’s team didn’t forget to document these precious memories with these truly incredible mothers. It was a day full of joy and festivity and as it neared its end. Hospice Egypt presented each patient with a rose; a small token of appreciation. Share a Smile group also presented mothers with gifts but the biggest surprise of the day was their support to mothers with fully paid Umrah trips. Hospice Egypt was thrilled to hear some of the most encouraging and loving words from our patients like: You are the most precious people in my life. May God grant you lifelong happiness for bringing joy to people’s hearts. No matter what I do, I wouldn’t be able to repay you for all your good deeds. You are true angels on Earth. This day in particular made me overjoyed. May God bring you never-ending joy and happiness.
